Americert International is approved by United Fresh Produce Association as a licensee to conduct audit and certification of farms and packing facilities which operate in compliance with the United Fresh Produce Association's Harmonized GAP standards. Our approval letter can be viewed here.

The goal of the Harmonized GAP standards is “One audit by any credible third party, acceptable to all buyers.” To achieve this goal, the Initiative has developed food safety Good Agricultural Practices standards and audit checklists for pre-harvest and post-harvest operations, applicable to all fresh produce commodities, all sizes of on-farm operations and all regions in the U.S. A further goal is to reduce audit fatigue and allow operations to focus their food safety resources on achieving food safety, rather than passing audits. This plan evolved into the Produce GAP Harmonization Initiative, an all-industry effort including growers, shippers, produce buyers, government agencies, audit organizations and other stakeholders.

To prepare for a Harmonized GAP audit, please review the Standards (Standards Version 2.0 04/10/20) prepare your GAP compliance plan and manual and associated documentation, and conduct a self audit to the standard.

Be sure to contact your buyer, marketer, or distributor to be sure HGAP meets their requirements.

When you are ready to apply for a Harmonized GAP audit, please complete this HGAP Application Form and submit to Americert International via email, fax, or postal mail.
